Gaba Gu Shu Black Tea
GABA Gu Shu (加巴古树) is an extraordinary tea crafted from ancient trees in the pristine Doi Mae Salong Mountain Organic Plantation, located in Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand. This unique tea undergoes a special fermentation process that enriches it with Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA), a naturally occurring amino acid known for its calming effects on the nervous system.
Originating from trees that have thrived for centuries in the high-altitude, mineral-rich soils of Northern Thailand, GABA Gu Shu offers a deep, complex flavor profile. The meticulous processing involves exposing the tea leaves to nitrogen, enhancing the GABA levels, which contributes to its distinctive taste and health benefits.
Upon brewing, GABA Gu Shu reveals a rich, amber hue, with a smooth, velvety texture. Its flavor is a harmonious blend of sweet and sour notes, complemented by a subtle earthiness and a lingering, soothing aftertaste. This tea is celebrated not only for its taste but also for its potential to reduce stress, improve sleep, and enhance mental clarity.
Cultivated with an unwavering commitment to organic farming practices, this tea encapsulates the essence of Doi Mae Salong's transformation from an opium trade center to a renowned high-quality tea-producing area. GABA Gu Shu stands as a testament to the region's rich tea culture and the innovative spirit of its tea makers.

What is GABA Tea?
GABA tea is a special type of tea that contains an increased concentration of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. The production method was developed in Japan in 1987 by Professor Tsushida at the National Institute of Food Research. The process involves anaerobic fermentation, which enhances the accumulation of GABA in tea leaves.
