Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen)

Bai Hao Yin Zhen (白毫银针) also known as Silver Needle, is a prestigious white tea, uniquely cultivated in the Doi Mae Salong Mountain Organic Plantation in Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand. Grown at altitudes of around 1,200-1,600 meters, this tea is celebrated for its exceptional purity and minimal processing. It consists exclusively of the finest unopened tea buds, carefully handpicked to ensure the highest quality.

This variant of Bai Hao Yin Zhen thrives in the higher altitudes and unique climatic conditions of Northern Thailand, which impart distinct characteristics to the tea. While traditionally a Chinese tea, the adaptation of Bai Hao Yin Zhen to the Thai terroir has resulted in a nuanced flavor profile. This tea is less traditional than its Chinese counterpart, offering a fresh interpretation with subtle tropical influences.

Upon brewing, the elegant, needle-like buds of this Bai Hao Yin Zhen gently unfold, revealing a light, ivory hue. The brew is a pale, clear yellow, offering a smooth and silky texture. Its aroma is a delicate blend of floral and sweet scents, with undercurrents of tropical fruit. The flavor is notably refined, characterized by a gentle sweetness and light floral notes, finishing with a soft, fruity aftertaste reminiscent of local Thai fruits.

Bai Hao Yin Zhen from Doi Mae Salong represents an exquisite fusion of traditional Chinese white tea processing methods and the unique environmental qualities of Northern Thailand. This tea is a testament to the versatility of tea cultivation and the rich, diverse tea culture in the region.

Doi Mae Salong, known for its transformation from an opium trade center to a high-quality tea producing area, adds a significant historical layer to this tea. The region's dedication to organic farming practices further enhances the purity and quality of the tea.
